Chairman of the Langtang Amateur Football Association (LAFA), Chief Amb. Miri Timnan Nyantau, has restated his executive committee’s dedication to discovering talents and surpassing conventional boundaries in football within their jurisdiction.
The enthusiastic football administrator proclaimed this resolute commitment after successfully overseeing the conclusion of the LAFA CUP 2023, which reached its climax in Langtang North on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023.
Chief Miri emphasized that football goes beyond mere entertainment, serving as a significant avenue for young individuals to build a livelihood. He stated, “That’s why we are here—to ensure the right environment is established for the development and exportation of these talents.”
“As I address you, LAFA stands as the inaugural association to register for the state federations cup and is set to compete with formidable teams such as Plateau United, Mighty Jets International, and other renowned clubs on the Plateau.”
The Chairman further declared that his team would embark on a two-week training camp to maintain the players’ fitness in preparation for the upcoming competition.
Popularly known as M.T.N, the LAFA Chairman expressed quick gratitude to the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation, led by Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, and the visionary PFA Chairman, Honourable Suleman Yahaya Kwande, who was represented by the FA first vice Chairman, Mr. Ezra Godit, and the state executive.
He extended immense appreciation to the traditional rulers present, stating, “I am honored to have such esteemed personalities in our midst; it signifies their belief in our mission.”
During the event, football administrators and fans were captivated as the LAFA Chairman revealed the coaches who would lead the team in the Plateau State Governor’s cup. Additionally, he inaugurated the committee for the inter-secondary school football competition and introduced the coaches responsible for overseeing the LAFA Under-13 football team—an initiative hailed as the best.
Bwarat United emerged as champions of this year’s LAFA Cup, securing victory with a 4-2 penalty shootout against Hiltop Academy.
With the conclusion of the 2023 LAFA Cup, attention now shifts to the upcoming Governor’s Cup, where Langtang North is scheduled to face Langtang South on December 10th, 2023, in Wase LGA.
