Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has commended the financial prudence exhibited by the management of Mighty Jets International FC, led by Ferdinand Mbum.
The team recently purchased a new bus using funds from their allocation, and the Governor has promised to acquire an additional bus for the team.
The Governor officially unveiled the bus at the Plateau State Deputy Governor’s office in Jos today.
In Mutfwang’s words, “Particularly, I would like to salute the management of the club for its resourcefulness because we didn’t particularly allocate the money, but out of the savings they made, they were able to procure this bus. This shows prudent financial management, which we tend to pursue to make it a culture on the Plateau.”
He continued to assure the people of Plateau about his commitment to managing their financial resources: “We have always made a commitment to our people, that we will manage their resources effectively and this is a demonstration by this club. So, I’m particularly delighted and this has gone a long way to fulfill my desire to ensure that sports is resuscitated on the Plateau.”
“Mighty Jets Football Club is a club with history and we will not allow you to die. We will ensure that it regains its rightful place in the annals of soccer in Nigeria. So, I want to encourage you to continue to do your best; we plan to procure new buses at a later time. And by the grace of God, we will. But we want to make sure that all the systems that we found dead, we want to bring some life into them so that they are up and running. And as we begin to balance things on the Plateau, we are going to ensure that we go for the best.”
Earlier, the Commissioner for Sports Plateau State, Hon. Lawandi Datti, expressed gratitude to the Governor for keeping his promise of supporting the club. He urged the management to instill a good maintenance culture and ensure the bus is well-maintained.
Ferdinand Mbum, the General Manager of Mighty Jets International FC, expressed appreciation to the Governor and assured the people of Plateau State that he would not disappoint them on the mandate given to him.
“We want to thank His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for what he has done for us in the shortest possible time. I want to say here without any form of equivocation that what we have been able to achieve in the last four months, in the last eight years people who handled the club could not achieve this and it is because of the magnanimity of His Excellency. If not for his excellency’s doggedness at ensuring that Mighty Jets get to the next level, we wouldn’t have achieved all we have been able to achieve for now.”
“So, once again, I want to say a very big thank you to this. I want to assure him, the members of the State Executive Council, and the entire Plateau people, that we will not at all disappoint this mandate that Plateau people have given to us. Thank you very much, sir.”
