According to Emamoke, “The vision for MTN is just like as the entire world will wake up every time there’s an Olympics and they are looking for USA and Jamaica, we want to put Nigeria on the map. And we are dogged in making that happen because we have so many talents undiscovered.
“So, I’m so grateful members of the press, I want you to propagate this, we are not going anywhere, MTN will stand with this athletic vision, and just like we have been developing sports, we will not stop.
“I remember the very first time I got a cold call email from MoC, when you mean cold, cold, I never even knew them. And when they articulated their vision, I just knew this was going to be a very, very big sponsorship property. And I tell you, what, Nigeria with about 70% of its population below the age of 20, this is what you need to engage the youths.
“We have been participating in sports for more than two decades. You’re aware of our partnership with the NFF, we have been supporting the Super Eagles and for us, our partnership with MoC is the next big thing.”
MTN CHAMPS Season 2 features four age categories: Cadet (U14) and Youth (U17), which are exclusively for Junior and Senior Secondary schools respectively, and the Junior (U20) and Senior (no age restrictions) categories which caters to other teenagers and adults respectively who may be in schools, universities, clubs, states, national or unattached Athletes.
