NYG 2024: Plateau State Athletes Face Tough Screening Process with 9 dropped

The National Youth Games (NYG) 2024 screening exercise for athletes took place yesterday behind closed doors, with only athletes and screening officials allowed into the stadium.

 

The rigorous process, which began at 9 am, lasted until 10 pm, with a total of 9 athletes from Plateau State being screened out.

 

The breakdown of the screened athletes by sport is as follows: – Athletics: 1 – Badminton: 1 – Cycling: 1 – Football: 6

 

Though disappointment filled the air, the athletes displayed remarkable sportsmanship, vowing to use this setback as a stepping stone by supporting their colleagues to success.

 

The screening process was highly competitive, with athletes undergoing rigorous tests to prove their eligibility to represent Plateau State at the NYG 2024.

 

The officials ensured that only the best and most qualified athletes made the cut.

 

Recall that Plateau State went with 135 athletes who will participate in 24 events.
