At the final match of the Jos South Coaches Metro League 2024 held yesterday 15th of September at Du Mini Stadium, Hon. Silas Dung, the PDP candidate in the forthcoming Local Government Council elections in Plateau State, made an inspiring address to the players and the community.
Hon. Dung expressed his sincere hope that the talented young athletes competing in the tournament would be nurtured and supported, eventually reaching national and international levels in their football careers. He prayed for the success of these players and urged that their potential be harnessed for greater opportunities.
He assured the audience that when he assumes office, sports development would be one of his administration’s top priorities. While acknowledging that football has received significant attention in the past, Hon. Dung promised that other sports would also be promoted and supported under his leadership.
He further vowed to bring back the prestigious Chairman’s Cup to Jos South, reinforcing his dedication to fostering sports culture in the area. As a native of Du, Hon. Dung expressed pride that such a significant event was taking place in his hometown and commended the event for promoting friendship and unity among the youth.
He concluded by wishing the teams luck and encouraging the spirit of camaraderie, leaving the crowd motivated and hopeful for the future of sports in Jos South.
