SWAN Plateau Chapter Visits DOPPA, Strengthens Partnership on Sports Development

The newly inaugurated Executive Committee of the Plateau State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) paid a courtesy and familiarization visit to the office of the Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA) to the Plateau State Governor, Mr. Gyang Bere, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

 

During the meeting, Mr. Bere assured the committee of his office’s commitment to fostering collaboration, particularly in reporting the state government’s strides in sports development.

 

Highlighting the importance of sports as a tool for youth engagement, he shared details of his ongoing efforts, including a football competition in his hometown of Vwang district, Jos South Local Government Area.

 

According to him, such initiatives help channel the energies of young people away from negative vices and toward positive endeavors.

 

He further pledged to actively involve SWAN in his office’s sports-related activities.

In his remarks, the Chairman of SWAN Plateau State Chapter, Mr. Alfred Saiki, commended the state government, led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, for prioritizing sports development. He emphasized the association’s readiness to support and amplify the government’s efforts through exemplary leadership and professional sports reportage.

 

Mr. Saiki also reiterated the committee’s dedication to projecting the administration’s achievements in the sector, ensuring the public remains informed of its initiatives.

 

The meeting marked the beginning of a promising partnership aimed at enhancing sports development and promoting youth engagement across Plateau State.
