In a bold move underscoring his administration’s commitment to sports development, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, officially presented an 18-seater Hummer Bus to the Plateau State Sports Council.

The gesture comes as the state prepares for the upcoming National Sports Festival (NSF) and is the first of its kind in over two decades.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Musa Ashoms, hailed the Governor’s action as a reflection of a leadership that walks its talk.

“The Governor doesn’t say things without matching them with actions. This is a testament of whatever we say, we fulfil,” he declared.

“We are concerned about the development of sports on the Plateau. We know what sports has done for our people and we know what it can do. This bus will ease the movement of our athletes and officials, especially as we go for the NSF, where we are confident of winning laurels.”

Hon. Ashoms emphasized that the provision of the bus is just the beginning of greater interventions in the sector, promising that the days when athletes were stranded are over. “We will continue to synergize with the sports council to make your job easier and more enjoyable,” he added.

Also speaking, the Director of Sports, Prof. Ezra Gunen, expressed deep gratitude, highlighting the significance of the gesture:

“Within the last two and a half decades, we have never been blessed like this. This gift, given during Easter, is a miracle for us. This vehicle will not only be used to transport athletes to training and competitions, but also for educational activities. Governor Mutfwang has shown he truly has sports in his heart.”

The ceremony concluded with prayers and a firm resolve from both the government and the sports community to uplift Plateau State to new heights of glory through sports.
