The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has announced a ₦1 million reward for any athlete from Team Plateau who wins a gold medal at the upcoming National Sports Festival, Gateway Games 2024, scheduled to take place in Ogun State.
The Governor made this commitment during a send-off ceremony held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos. He was represented by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Ibrahim Musa Ashoms.
In addition to the gold medal reward, silver medalists will receive ₦750,000, and bronze medalists will get ₦500,000. For team sports, a gold medal will attract a reward of ₦1.5 million.

Governor Mutfwang encouraged the athletes to be proud ambassadors of Plateau State and to strive to bring home honors. He praised the leadership of the Director of Sports, Prof. Ezra Gunen, for his transparency and dedication, which he said reflects the values of his administration.
The Plateau contingent is fully prepared for the competition, with all allowances paid and sports kits ready for distribution upon arrival in Ogun.

A total of 324 individuals will represent Plateau State at the festival, including 225 athletes, 40 coaches, 12 secretaries, logistics staff, state officials, and security personnel. Team Plateau will compete in 24 different sports during the festival, which runs from May 16 to 30, 2025.
