Team Plateau made a powerful statement on Day 3 of the 2024 National Sports Festival, securing seven medals in a stunning display of strength, resilience, and determination at the ongoing Gateway Games.
The highlight of the day came from Daniel Christopher, who delivered Plateau’s first gold medal of the festival in the men’s snatch event. Lifting an impressive 140kg, Daniel not only topped the podium but also set the tone for what would become a medal-rich day for the team.
In a dramatic turn of events, Bose Sunday reclaimed her rightful place on the podium after a review corrected a scoring error that had initially placed her in fourth. Following the official adjustment, Bose was awarded three bronze medals in the women’s 64kg category — for the Snatch, Clean and Jerk, and Total lifts. It was a moment of redemption and justice for both the athlete and the team, with her perseverance ultimately paying off.

Meanwhile, Friday Yohanna added to the medal haul with a commanding performance in the men’s 73kg weightlifting division. He earned bronze in the Snatch with a 117kg lift, and went on to claim silver in the Clean and Jerk after lifting 141kg. His combined total also secured him another silver medal for overall performance in the category.

With one gold, two silvers, and four bronzes now in the bag, Team Plateau has firmly established itself as a force to reckon with in the weightlifting events. As the festival continues, hopes are high and the momentum is strong for more podium finishes.
In total, Team Plateau wrapped up Day 3 with:
- 1 Gold
- 2 Silver
- 4 Bronze
It was a day of firsts, comebacks, and sheer determination — and Team Plateau made it clear: they are not just competing, they are contending.
