History was made at the National Sports Festival as Coach Ajang Azi, the Chief Coach of the Plateau State Golf Association, led his team to remarkable success on his very first outing as head of the delegation.

Brimming with emotion, Coach Azi shared his excitement following the team’s outstanding performance, which saw them clinch one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals.

“I am so proud of the achievement, even though it’s my first time of leading a delegation like this,” he said. “To come away with six medals is a great achievement and a testament to the hard work of the athletes and the unwavering support we’ve received.”

Coach Azi was quick to attribute the success to strong backing from key stakeholders. “The success could not be possible without the support of the Governor, Barrister Mutfwang Caleb—his support has been great. Also, the Director of Sport, Professor Israel Gunnen, has been a pillar for us and inspired the team all the way.”

He further acknowledged the vital role played by the Chairman of the Plateau State Golf Association, whose consistent support bolstered the team’s preparations and performance.

With pride in his voice and hope for the future, Coach Azi concluded: “Again, I am so proud of the achievement. This is a stepping stone, and we are only going to grow stronger from here.”

His debut outing has not only brought home medals but also ushered in a new era for Plateau State Golf under his leadership.
