The National President of the Afizere Youth Movement (AYM), Luka Azi Itse (Zico), has expressed deep appreciation to the Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms, for his steadfast commitment to youth empowerment in the state.
In a heartfelt letter dated 19th June 2025, Zico highlighted two significant interventions that have directly impacted Afizere youths—support for young farmers and educational bursaries for students.
According to the letter, 50 Afizere youths recently benefited from a government-backed agricultural support scheme, each receiving a bag of Urea and a bag of NPK fertilizer at subsidized rates. This, Zico noted, will significantly boost food production and promote self-reliance among young farmers in the community.
Equally commendable was the financial support extended to the Afizere student community. On New Year’s Day 2025, Hon. Ashoms donated One Million Naira to the AYM, allowing the leadership to provide ₦50,000 bursaries to 20 deserving students. The gesture, the group said, has eased the financial burden on the students and reinvigorated their academic aspirations.
The AYM also praised the commissioner’s inclusive approach in working directly with the youth leadership to identify and support beneficiaries. “Your partnership with us has proven that youth development is most effective when leaders engage sincerely with grassroots organizations,” Zico stated.
He further affirmed the organization’s readiness to continue working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in future youth-focused programs.
Hon. Musa Ashoms’ efforts, the letter concludes, are a testament to visionary leadership and a genuine desire to uplift young people across Plateau State.
