Plateau United Head Coach, Shola Adegun, has assured supporters of a better outing as he prepares to lead the team in his first home game against Katsina United on Sunday.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, August 29, Adegun urged fans to remain patient and supportive as he continues to instill a team culture built on exciting football and positive results.
The former assistant, now in his first head coach role in the NPFL, admitted the challenge is a huge one, but expressed confidence in his ideas and commitment to building a style of play that would restore Plateau United’s status among the top clubs in Nigeria.
Reflecting on their opening-day defeat to Wikki Tourist in Bauchi, Adegun acknowledged the team’s struggles with chance creation and consistency but assured supporters of an improved performance this weekend. “It’s a work in progress. Many players are also making their debuts, but fans will see a stronger display against Katsina United and in the games ahead,” he said.

The coach gave updates on key players, revealing that captain Albert Hilary—who picked up a knock against Wikki Tourist—has resumed training and is expected to feature on Sunday. He also confirmed the club is working to bolster its attack, with decisions on striker Vincent Temitope still pending as the transfer window remains open. Injured players Jonathan Davou and Paul Magit are also hopeful of returning soon.
Hilary, speaking alongside his coach, assured fans of a spirited response. “We promise to give our best, score goals, and play entertaining football this season,” the captain said.
With 37 games still to play in the 2025/26 season, both coach and captain pledged that Plateau United would bounce back strongly and make the fans and people of Plateau State proud.
