Team Plateau continued its inspiring run at the ongoing National Youth Games on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, with an impressive seven-medal haul across five different sports, taking the state’s overall medal count to 17.
The highlight of the day came in Para Powerlifting where Emmanuel Jallang outclassed his opponents to win Gold in the 59kg category, lifting an impressive 88kg. The victory was Plateau’s third Gold of the Games and the second credited to the state’s Powerlifting team.
In Cycling, Rejoice Danjuma, who had earlier won Silver on Day 3, added a Bronze medal in the 10km individual time trial, underlining her consistency and resilience.

The duo of Glory Williams and Princess Yakubu brought Silver glory in Darts doubles after a strong display, bouncing back from their singles exit earlier in the day, though they lost the final to Bayelsa.

Golf also brought cheer as Rotmwagyi Monday secured a Bronze medal in Match Play.
Gymnastics continued its tradition of delivering medals for Plateau with three Bronzes: Emmanuella Fashuyi shone in the Double Mini Trampoline (DMT), Suraj Albashir claimed a Bronze in Power Tumbling, and Francis Michael rounded it off with another Bronze in Aerobics.
Elsewhere, there were mixed fortunes for Plateau athletes. In Badminton, Mudimah Zinnah won his second-round match against Cross River 21–12, 21–8 to advance, while the Scrabble team posted solid results to reach the next round in both male and female categories. However, Darts pair Samson Shedrack and Samson Destiny fell short at the quarterfinal stage, and Tennis saw defeats for both singles and doubles representatives. Athletics delivered a disappointing outing as the state finished 4th and 6th in the men’s and women’s 1500m events.
By the close of Day 4, Plateau had claimed 1 Gold, 1 Silver, and 5 Bronze medals, bringing their overall tally to 3 Gold, 5 Silver, and 9 Bronze — a total of 17 medals.
Events lined up for Wednesday, September 3, include Darts, Squash, Chess, Scrabble, Kung Fu, Tennis, Badminton, and Judo, as Plateau athletes aim to add to their medal haul.
