Team Plateau Extends Medal Tally to 19 at National Youth Games

Plateau State athletes continued their spirited showing at the 9th National Youth Games as the contingent increased its medal haul from 17 to 19 at the close of Day 6, held on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025.

In Golf, Obed Yusuf impressed with a resilient performance in the Stroke Play, holding off stiff competition from Imo, Edo, and the FCT to clinch a silver medal. Robinson David added a bronze after overcoming his Yobe State opponent in the third-place contest.

However, it was not all success, as Plateau suffered setbacks in Kungfu, Badminton, Scrabble, Tennis, Squash, and Darts. In Chess, the state recorded a mixed start—winning the first two rounds, losing the third, and drawing the fourth—leaving plenty to play for with nine games still ahead.
