The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, on Friday, September 12, 2025, paid a surprise visit to Plateau United Football Club during their training session at the Zaria Road Stadium in Jos.
The Governor’s visit comes as the Peace Boys prepare for a crucial NPFL fixture against reigning champions Remo Stars on Sunday.
Plateau United, who currently sit bottom of the table after three games, received words of encouragement from the Governor, who assured the players of his belief in their ability to turn the season around.
“Since you joined this team, I know individually, you want to excel. The hope of every player is to excel and go to the next level,” Governor Mutfwang said while addressing the squad.
He urged the players not to dwell on early setbacks, stressing that results will improve with determination and focus. “You are a good team. Some of the goals conceded have been unfortunate, but I want you to pick yourselves up. You’re fighting for yourself, for the badge you wear, and for your supporters. The best is yet to come.”

The Governor also assured the team of government’s continued support, pledging additional motivation from his personal purse. “I know the club has promised you a winning match bonus. From my own pocket, another bonus will come,” he announced, to the excitement of the players.
Mutfwang, who revealed he may not be present at Sunday’s match, promised to send a representative, while calling on supporters and stakeholders to rally behind the team.
“This is the time for every lover of Plateau United to rally together. Nothing has spoiled. I believe in you individually and collectively, and I want you to give your best,” he concluded.
The Governor’s visit is expected to inspire the team as they battle to secure their first win of the new NPFL season against Remo Stars.
