The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, on Friday, 12th September 2025, paid a surprise visit to Plateau United Football Club during their training session at the Zaria Road Stadium, Jos. The team is in final preparations to host NPFL champions, Remo Stars, in a crucial encounter on Sunday.
With the Jos-based side languishing at the bottom of the NPFL table after three matches, Governor Mutfwang seized the opportunity to address the players and stakeholders, urging unity and focus.
“Let me appeal to all stakeholders, please and please and please. Let’s not distract the team,” the Governor said. “Whatever we do outside, if the players do not play well on the field, there is nothing we can do. So we must do everything we can to encourage them to play well on the field.”
The Governor emphasized the need for calm and an end to internal wrangling, stressing that disunity and sabotage would only harm the club’s progress. “Every distraction must be kept aside, every faction must keep its calm. At the end of the day, I am very confident that we will celebrate Plateau United at the end of this season.”
He assured fans of the government’s commitment to the club, noting that Plateau United holds a special place in the hearts of the people. “I want you to know that we take this team very seriously. That’s why I’m here today,” he added.
Turning his attention to the players, Mutfwang charged them to embody the spirit of teamwork. “Soccer is about teamwork. No matter how good you are, if you don’t play as a team, there is no magic. You must play for one another, help one another to be better players, and at the end of the day, the sky is your limit.”
As Plateau United prepares to face Remo Stars, the Governor’s words may prove a timely morale boost for a side in desperate need of confidence and cohesion.
