The much-anticipated National Veterans Football Tournament kicks off in Lagos, with Plateau All Stars proudly flying the flag for the North Central zone.
The draws, conducted on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, placed the Plateau side in Group 2 alongside Ondo, Edo, and Gombe.
Plateau All Stars will open their campaign today, Thursday, October 2, against Gombe at the Lagos All Stars Training Ground on Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere.
The team, led by its President Ishola Popo, also boasts seasoned veterans such as Thomas Ekoja, Danjuma Shera, Olayinka Olaniyi, Sani Kangyan, and Garba Uche.
This year’s outing is particularly significant for Plateau, who are making a return after three years away from the competition. The last time they reached the final, they narrowly lost to hosts Lagos in an intense decider.
The National Veterans Football Tournament is reserved for ex-internationals, former professionals, and players who featured at various levels of the Nigerian league.
Beyond competition, the event provides an avenue for retired players to stay fit, relive the thrill of the game, and maintain the camaraderie of football.
