SWAN @60: Governor Caleb Mutfwang honoured with Distinguished Governor Award

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has honoured the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, with the prestigious “Distinguished Governor Award” under the “SWAN Nigeria Order of Sports (SNOS)”.

 

The award, presented during the Association’s 60th Anniversary Celebration, recognizes Governor Mutfwang’s “outstanding support for the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria” and his “notable contributions to sports development in Nigeria”, particularly on the Plateau.

In presenting the award, held on Friday 31st of October 2025 at the VIP Lounge of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, SWAN’s National President, Benjamin Isaiah, praised Governor Mutfwang for his visionary leadership and commitment to sports as a tool for youth empowerment, unity, and peacebuilding.

 

The President noted that under Mutfwang’s administration, Plateau State has witnessed renewed investment in sports infrastructure, talent development, and support for grassroots competitions.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor, Hon. Suleiman Kwande appreciation to SWAN for acknowledging the Governor’s efforts and reaffirmed the administration’s determination to continue advancing sports as a key driver of human capital development.

 

Governor Mutfwang’s recognition places him among a select group of leaders nationwide who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the growth of sports and media partnership. The honour further solidifies Plateau State’s reputation as a beacon of sporting excellence in Nigeria.

 

“SWAN Nigeria Order of Sports (SNOS)” remains one of the Association’s highest categories of honour, reserved for individuals who have made enduring contributions to the development of sports and supported the ideals of sports journalism in Nigeria.

 

The award was dated “1st October 2023” — a symbolic recognition of national unity and progress through sports.
