As part of his Christmas activities, the Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Musa Ashoms, joined the Inter-Denominational Christmas Service organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Zandi Chapter, in Jos East Local Government Area.
The service brought together Christians from various denominations and neighbouring villages to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ while promoting unity, peace and love within the community.
Addressing worshippers, Hon. Ashoms said the revival of the joint Christmas celebration was inspired by the strong values it instilled during their early years. He recalled a time when Christians in Zandi celebrated Christmas as one family, regardless of denominational differences, a tradition that fostered unity, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. He stressed that restoring such unity remains vital to community progress, noting that meaningful development thrives in an atmosphere of harmony.

In support of CAN Zandi and to sustain the revived tradition, Hon. Ashoms donated ₦1.5 million. He was accompanied by the Deputy Chairman of Jos East Local Government Council, Hon. Atsen Yusuf Musa, who also donated ₦100,000. The event attracted church leaders, traditional rulers and community members.
After the service, the Commissioner attended the final of the 11th edition of a football tournament he initiated over a decade ago, now an annual fixture in Zandi. The competition, aimed at promoting grassroots sports and positive youth engagement, featured ten teams and was played in his honour. Hon. Ashoms further supported the teams with cash donations and jerseys.
The final match between Nakwang Football Club and Fadan Zigam ended goalless, with Fadan Zigam emerging winners 4–3 on penalties.
