The new Acting Technical Adviser of Plateau United, Gbenga Ogunbote, has outlined his plans to steady the club and guide them to a strong finish in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Ogunbote made this known on Saturday during a media parley with members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Plateau State Chapter, shortly after taking charge of the team on a contract that runs until the end of the season.

According to the experienced tactician, Plateau United require reinforcement, but he acknowledged the challenges of recruiting quality players during the mid-season transfer window.

“The position we are in desires that the team must be strengthened. We are thinking of adding some legs, but we all know that in-season it is very difficult to get the best players,” Ogunbote said.

He explained that the club’s focus would be on signing players capable of coping with the current situation and improving overall performance, rather than overhauling the entire squad.

“What we try to do is to get players that can manage the situation we have found ourselves in so the team can finish strong. We may not get everything we want, but we will get players that will enhance the performance of the team,” he added.

Ogunbote stressed that mid-season recruitment should be targeted, identifying specific areas that need improvement.

On the club’s objectives, the coach said survival remains the immediate priority, but the team will aim higher.

“The primary goal is to maintain premiership status, but I told the players to aim above the sky. If you fall, you fall among the stars,” he said.

He concluded by assuring fans that Plateau United will not settle for mere survival but will push for a convincing finish to secure their top-flight status.
