Plateau United continued their upward push in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Rangers International FC in a Match Day 23 fixture played at the Jos New Stadium on January 28, 2026.

The win marked back-to-back home victories for the Jos-based side, following their earlier triumph over Wikki Tourists, and further underlined a growing belief within the squad.

Plateau United opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Rangers responded with an equaliser in the 28th minute. The hosts, however, restored their lead in the 39th minute when Vincent calmly converted from the penalty spot to complete his brace and seal all three points.

Plateau United head coach Gbenga Ogunbote attributed the team’s resurgence to renewed confidence and collective responsibility.
“We needed to brace up. When a team is down, it becomes a collective responsibility. Changing the players’ mentality and making them believe in themselves has been key. Success for us is to finish strong in an appreciable position,” Ogunbote noted.

Rangers International head coach took the defeat in stride, describing it as part of the game’s unpredictability.
“It is football, and anything can happen. Football is a game of a win, draw or lose. Today we lost, and we have to go back and plan ahead of the next game. I am encouraging the players to stay positive for Rangers,” he said.

Beyond their strong home form, Plateau United have also shown resilience on the road, earning a 1–1 draw against Abia Warriors and a goalless stalemate away to Katsina United in Kano. These results point to increasing stability and sustained momentum as the NPFL season enters a decisive phase.
